Mr and Miss UPPA Knysna: local talent takes the spotlight
Six winners, prizes valued at R13 500 and a prize handover that carried the celebration beyond the runway.

For the young women and men who stepped onto the runway at the UPPA modelling show, the occasion meant being seen, heard and celebrated by their community. Mr and Miss UPPA Knysna put local talent at the centre of the stage, with six winners recognised across the two categories.
The show brought together style, creativity, cultural expression and the courage to perform in front of an audience. The celebration continued beyond the runway with a prize handover for the Miss UPPA category, where flowers and presentation cards marked another moment of recognition.
A stage for Knysna’s young talent
A community show begins well before a contestant walks onto the stage. It takes preparation, encouragement and the confidence to put yourself forward. The event gave young people a space to express themselves, while the audience had an opportunity to recognise talent close to home.
The title of Mr or Miss UPPA Knysna carries that local pride. The men and women who participated helped make the occasion possible, and the contribution of every contestant deserves recognition alongside the six prize winners.
In the original event account, Karabo Maotoane, who served as one of the judges, highlighted the participants’ talent, courage and determination. The account describes the show as an opportunity to build confidence and take a step closer to personal aspirations.
Six prizes, valued at R13 500
Three winners were recognised in each category. The Miss UPPA prizes were Woolworths gift cards to the value of R10 000 in total. The Mr UPPA category carried cash prizes totalling R3 500.

The prizes gave material recognition to the contestants’ efforts. The wider value of the occasion was the space it created for young people to participate, gain experience and have their achievements celebrated in public.
The celebration continued at the handover
The Miss UPPA prize handover completed an important part of the story. The photographs bring readers closer to the people behind the event: young women holding flowers, sharing a moment together and receiving recognition after their time on stage.
These moments belong alongside the runway photographs. They carry the story from the competition to the presentation of its rewards, and give the winners a lasting record of an achievement worth celebrating.

Making room for the next generation
Young people need opportunities to participate in the life of their communities, including through arts, culture, sport and leadership. Providing a stage for that participation is part of building a Knysna in which more young people can contribute and be recognised.
UPPA’s event account places the modelling show within that wider commitment: opening doors, encouraging participation and supporting young people as they discover their potential. The security-training selection programme and the Knysna rugby festival are other parts of the party’s published local work.
“Every young person deserves an opportunity to dream, a platform to shine and support to achieve.”
